Democracy is only as strong as the people who are engaged in it and Canadian history has been marked by both successes and failures on the path to building a better one. J.D.M. Stewart, one of the nation’s foremost historians and author of the new book, The Prime Ministers, draws on his experience as a writer, commentator and former Civics teacher to explore the importance of civic engagement. Stewart will argue that education and an understanding of our past remain keys to a strong democracy and a sense of who we are as Canadians.
