We started Compassionate Justice as a speaker series here in Toronto 17 years ago with that in mind. We attracted exceptional people to talk on matters pertaining to both our criminal justice system and major social justice issues that are important to Canadians. You are welcome to attend in person at Eglinton St George’s United Church in Toronto for our events. All our events are free to all.

Wrongful Convictions - Justice for Some

Kent Roach, author of Justice for Some: A Comparative Study of Miscarriages of Justice and Wrongful Convictions (2026), will speak about wrongful convictions in Canada and internationally, including England, the United States and China.  As co-founder of the Canadian Registry of Wrongful Convictions, Kent Roach brings insights from nearly 100 remedied cases in Canada.  He will discuss the role of racism and discriminatory stereotypes in miscarriages of justice, as well as the potential impact of Canada’s new Miscarriage of Justice Review Commission.
